Docs In Progress is based in the thriving arts district of Silver Spring, Maryland just outside Washington DC. We are headquartered near the American Film Institute and Discovery Communications.
Our educational programs reach both prospective filmmakers and the public throughout the Washington DC and Baltimore metropolitan areas in a variety of ways:
- Since 2004, Docs In Progress has screened more than 100 documentaries created by filmmakers primarily based in the Mid-Atlantic region.
- We have reached over 1000 people through our classes, workshops, screenings, panels, expert talks, discussion groups, and networking events.
- In the past year, our website had nearly 50,000 page views and more than 10,000 unique visitors.
- Our website attracts visitors from more than 100 countries with 75% of its visitors from the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S.
- More than 2000 people subscribe to our e-mailing list for regular updates, as well as to our quarterly newsletter. We anticipate an additional 500 readers due to “forwarding reach.”
- We reach more than 2,500 other film enthusiasts via Twitter, Facebook, Linked In, and Meet Up.
- Stories about Docs In Progress have been featured in The Washington Post Weekend Section, NPR (WAMU Metro Connection and WETA The Intersection), WPFW Pacifica Radio,The Montgomery Gazette, International Documentary Magazine, and indieWIRE.
- Industry groups including major distributors, TV programmers and film organizations in Los Angeles, New York, Boston, and San Francisco subscribe to our mailing list and Twitter feeds.
