Docs In Progress welcomes sponsorships of our organization, specific programs and opportunities to devise customized sponsorships.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SPONSORSHIPS

We welcome cash sponsorships or donation of food and beverages for the following community engagement events:

Silver Spring Stories Festival
Held each year in July, this film festival is aimed at showcasing the Silver Spring, Maryland community by screening works on local people, places, and institutions by Docs In Progress adult and youth production students.  In 2011, this event was held at the Silver Spring Civic Building.  Cash sponsors help support the costs associated with outreach for this community event.  Local merchants can support the festival with cash sponsorships, by offering gift certificates or goods as awards for the participating filmmakers, or by providing food or soft drinks for the event.

Open Houses
Docs In Progress holds two Open Houses per year.  In June, we hold an Open House during Silverdocs to celebrate the local documentary filmmaking community and welcome visiting filmmakers and industry to Docs In Progress.  In December, we hold our end-of-the-year Holiday Party.  Each of these events attracts about 100 people from the filmmaking and broader community.  Sponsors can provide cash or in-kind donations.

Screenings
Docs In Progress organizes regular screenings throughout the Washington-Baltimore area of documentary works-in-progress. Work-in-Progress Screenings are followed by a lively audience discussion that aims to help the filmmaker complete and distribute their documentary.  Alumni screenings showcase works by filmmakers Each year, there are 10-15 screenings. Customized cash sponsorships are available to support one or all of the annual work-in-progress screenings.

Expert Talks and Workshops
Our educational offerings include special workshops and expert talks on a variety of topics, or with leading industry experts. Past topics have included video technology, legal issues, film festivals, music in documentaries, archival research, and social media. There are generally 10-15 programs per year.

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY SPONSORSHIP
Docs In Progress offers documentary production classes in the winter, spring, and fall for adults and in the summer for middle school and high school students. Educational Opportunity Sponsors support scholarship programs which allow individuals who might not be able to afford the registration fees to attend the programs.  Scholarship recipients would be selected through a competitive application process in which financial need and purpose in taking the educational program will be primary considerations.
Benefactor Platinum Level = $2,500
Supports three scholarships per year for the Documentary Production Classes
or two scholarships for the Summer Camp
Benefactor Gold Level = $1,500
Supports two scholarships per year for the Documentary Production Classes
or one scholarship for the Summer Camp
Benefactor Silver Level = $750
Supports one scholarship per year for the Documentary Production Classes
or a half scholarship for the Summer Camp
Note: While we accept sponsorship of the Production classes year-round to apply to the next 12 month period of classes, the deadline for sponsoring the upcoming Summer Camps is April 1 of each year.

FACILITY SPONSORSHIP
Docs In Progress is seeking to renovate its space and make additional camera and Final Cut editing suite technology purchases to expand our capacity to accommodate larger class sizes and provide new benefits to members of editing space.  Sponsors can help support the renovation of our space; or can provide cash or in-kind donations, such as cameras and editing equipment.  Naming rights are available.  Please contact Erica Ginsberg at 301-789-2797 or  ericaATdocsinprogressDOTorg if you are interested in becoming a Facility Sponsor.
