Overview: The Development Committee is responsible for strategic planning and oversight of fundraising activities for Docs In Progress. Its task is to identify and secure multiple sources of monetary and non-monetary support which can ensure that Docs In Progress can be a sustainable nonprofit organization. Support can come from grants from public, private, and corporate foundations, corporate giving programs, individual donors, sponsorships, and partnerships with other organizations.

Current Volunteer Needs
GRANTS
- Research and identify potential grants
- Assist staff and board with grantwriting
- Review grant applications to ensure they are meeting the requirements of grant-makers
- Commitment: 5-10 hours per month to include a monthly weeknight meeting onsite at Docs In Progress. Additional work may be completed from home and via e-mail. Willingness to keep committee informed via shared Google Document is a must.
SPONSOR DEVELOPMENT
- Research and identify potential sponsors for specific programs
- Contact potential sponsors
- Work with Committee to Develop a handbook for approaching potential sponsors
- Commitment: 5-10 hours per month to include monthly check-ins at Docs In Progress. Additional work may be completed on your own. Willingness to keep committee informed via shared Google Document is a must.
BUILDING INDIVIDUAL DONOR POOL
- Manage online crowdfunding campaigns around specific programs and events
- Organize and manage signature fundraising events
- Host or find a host for fundraising houseparties
- Commitment: This opportunity would be appropriate for someone who wants to spend time during a shorter window to help build a specific online campaign or fundraising event for Docs In Progress. Depending on the extent of the fundraising effort, time commitment may vary. Volunteer would be working with Executive Director and Development Committee. Planning work can be done on or offsite.
