WALKING DIRECTIONS FROM AFI
We are about a 5-10 minute walk from the AFI Silver Theater. Walk down the hill on Colesville Road from the theater towards the Discovery Networks Building. Cross Georgia Avenue. Turn right to cross Colesville Road. Continue three blocks on Georgia to Fenwick Lane. Make a left and continue one block to 1st Avenue. The Docs In Progress Documentary House is the red brick house located across the street from 7-11.
We are 2 1/2 blocks from the Silver Spring Metro station. If you are walking from Metro, continue straight from the exit on Colesville Road. At the first corner (Second Avenue), turn left and cross Colesville. Continue up the hill 2 blocks (You will pass an office building, county courthouse, andapartment buildings on the left (including a county courthouse) and a McDonald’s, Townhomes, and Parking Garage on the right). Turn right on Fenwick Lane (where there is a beer and wine store). Our house is located at the next corner on the left. Enter on First Avenue. (If you’ve passed the 7-11, you’ve gone too far)
From the Beltway (495), take the Georgia Avenue exit towards Silver Spring (it’s exit 31-B if coming from the west, exit 31 if coming from the east). Continue on Georgia for about a mile. After you cross the third traffic light (Spring Street), the next right will be Fenwick. Our house is on the right just after you cross First Avenue.
From Washington DC: Take 16th Street North. After you enter Silver Spring at the traffic circle, continue through the next light at East-West Highway. Take the next right on to Spring Street. Take a right at the second street (First Avenue). Our house is at the next corner on the right.
We have limited parking behind our house in the gravel parking lot (open on weeknights and weekends only) or you can park in the Cameron Street Garage across the street (free on weekends and from 7 pm on weeknights/$1 per hour during weekdays).
DIRECTIONS TO TAKOMA PARK SCREENINGS
Takoma Park screenings take place at the Takoma Park Community Center Auditorium at 7500 Maple Avenue in Takoma Park, MD. The Community Center is off Philadelphia Avenue between Piney Branch and Carroll. Parking is free. If taking Metro, the walk from the Takoma Park Metro Station is about 20 minutes or you can take Ride-On Buses 25 (towards Langley Park) or 12 (towards Silver Spring) to the Community Center. DIRECTIONS TO WASHINGTON DC SCREENINGS
Our screenings in Washington DC take place at the George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs Building at 805 21st Street, NW Washington DC. The building is located at the corner of 21st and H Streets, NW in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood. The screenings usually take place in Auditorium B-07 on the lower level (one floor down from street level either by stairs or elevator). Special thanks to The Documentary Center at George Washington University for sponsoring these screenings. The closest Metro station is Foggy Bottom (on this Stationmasters Map, the building is noted as “Media & PA” in the center of the right side of the map. There are campus garages on H Street and I Streets which charge about $8-10 in the evenings. Street parking is free after 6:30 pm, but is limited to two hours.
