has been a member of the Docs In Progress Board of Directors since 2009 and currently serves as Vice President for Community Relations, after having served for more than two years as Treasurer.
Turner brings with him many years of experience working with community media. Most recently, he served for six years as the Executive Director of Access Montgomery/Montgomery County Community Television, the public access television station for Maryland’s largest county, serving a population of nearly one million people. He is an active member of the Alliance for Community Media, the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors, and the Alliance for Communications Democracy. Richard has also served on the board of the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County and has been a public speaker on topics ranging from media literacy to telecommunications policy and the public interest to technologies systems management. He also has been an independent producer in Maryland, Hawaii, and California. His academic background is in Communications and Social Welfare.
