is a founding board member of Docs In Progress, and has served as President of the Board since February 2011 (after serving as Vice President and Interim President). He also is the sole board representative to Docs In Progress’ Technology Committee.
Leon is a digital media producer for the National Institute of Standards and Technology where he has done a variety of work in video and online media, including helping to organize a national conference on streaming media, explore and build virtual spaces in SecondLife, work to increase the use of social networking sites in government, and serving as a member of the Department of Commerce’s Web 2.0 Committee.
In addition to his online media expertise, Leon is a filmmaker who directed a feature-length documentary, Crucible of War which was screened at many national and international film festivals. He was also a featured speaker with the film at various special screenings, including at Columbia University, the Wilson Center, American University, George Washington University, and Boston College. Leon has also directed a short fiction film, Sufis and has worked on numerous independent projects as director of photography, editor, and/or graphic designer. He is also a an avid still photographer.
Born in Croatia, Leon has made his home in the Washington area since 1994.
